Glory Bags are available at Paddletales!

WHAT ARE THEY?! As some of you may know, they are semi-rigid, rubberized mesh bags that you use to store individual fish in while transporting/ retaining fish in your live-well. You catch a fish, you put it in a Glory Bag and set the bag and fish into your livewell. There is a zipper running three sides of bag that is able to open at either end. They are a quality product; my set is three years old and looks like new.

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THIS? I’ve been using them for 3 years now, and I swear by them. While in the bag, the fish in your well become extremely docile, almost lethargic and seemingly stress free. No more thrashing about or sparring with their neighbors. They do not spit up, and they do not lose valuable weight!! I was fortunate enough to win one of Andy’s Rice Lake events last year by a mere 6 one-hundredths of a pound; I was using the bag – would I have came in second if I didn’t use the bags – I dunno, but I can assure you the second place finisher wasn’t using them!

The biggest advantage is in the culling though: I hate to cull – its like down-time for me when I’d sooner be looking for that next bite! But with the individually coloured bags(just like a culling ball set) it’s a snap and way way way easier on the fish!! No more punching holes in them – please! and no more slipping off the clip-on tags either. To cull, I use a balance-beam most o fthe time but a scale works well too if I’m not bouncing around in the middle of Lake Erie or Ontario. I leave the fish in and weight or balance the bag and all – and yes – I’ve checked my bags and they all weight the same, again they are a well built, quality product.

I think anything that’s good for both fish and tournament fisherman is a no-brainer – if you fish tournaments, you’re going to want a set!!

I'm not sure what they'll sell for but I';m confident it'd be about the same or maybe een less than ordeing from teh US manufacturer!

I have never used these but I did fish one of the OBF qualifiers with someone who used them. I really like the way the fish stayed calm and it made culling real easy. The gentleman I fished with knew exactly what the bags weighed when wet and he just subtracted that from the weight of the fish. I think I may have to take a trip down to Ed's and pick some of these up (along with a bunch more stuff I don't really need:roll

I would also like to try these glory bags if it's as good as Pete says and I agree about punching holes in the fishes mouth "barbaric". Any info on price and how to purchase would be appreciate it. Thanks

You can get them through Ed's or Online Stores is all I have seen so far. For pricing the best I have seen for a set is $59.95 U.S. Funds.

These bags truly are about as simple as it gets - they just flat out work. In fact, they are shipped with a little fleyer in them that reads, "DO NOT BE ALLARMED by lack of movement of fish while in the bag. That is the idea..."

I remember the frirst time I used them; sure enough, just as it was described to me I was about to cull my fisrt fish, and as soon as I opened the livewell I thought surely I had killed the fish I had already bagged. There they all were, just sittingthere motionless all in a row - I thought these bags are crap and I had killed everyone of them. I picked one out however and noticed the fish "at least still breathing" so wihtout hesitation, unzipped the zipper at the head end and promtly dumped the fish over the side - WELL, let me tell ya - there was no chance or need to try and hold the fish - it was gozo!! Took off like bullet as did every other seemingly 'dead' fish that day - these bags rule!

Right now Paddletales has the retail market sewn up, and as mentioned above is moe than accomodating to ship to you. With the way CND dollar has been lately, we're fortunate right now to be able to get the bags here for pretty much exactly what it would cost you after paying shipping, exchange, etc. direct from the GloryBag manufacture, so by all means do take advantage of it - they're good for the fish - and just could make a difference for you at the scales?! If they do move you up even one position in the standings - they would pay for themselves right there at double the price right?!

Is the rubber rubbing against the side of the fish still not going to be hard on the skin and protective fish slim? and I'm just asking not trying to put them down.

    thanks,

Thanks Ed for the quick response I am looking forward to experimenting with the bags. New and improved fish handling is great for the survival rate of the bass and less stress is good. Is it only bass or can it be used on other fish species?
