Important Notice relating to 2013 Season of the CSFL

    Dear CSFL Angler,

With the inclusion of the Wildcard Division, the new Southwestern Tour, the event winners automatic advancement to the Classic and with the guaranteed paybacks, it appears the 2013 Classic could potentially have 198 contenders. As you are aware the Classic is not structured for that many participants. The CSFL only allows 25% of each tour’s average guaranteeing only 10 spots for its Classic and with 7 divisions spanning across Southern Ontario the perception of the qualified field sizes would not allow it to appear to be the hardest Classic in Canada for anglers to achieve.

The revamping of the BM100’s for 2013 has so far been proven to be very well received as preregistration has been very overwhelming to say the very least and as we now release the Classic location it will be key in filling these fields. As stated in the most recent press release we truly believe the BM100’s will strengthen our future in all divisions and it is important that this and all our tours are addressed in the decisions that will alter the future of the CSFL.

With these issues at hand, the CSFL was faced with a challenge to accommodate the various divisions. The need to choose a body of water that will cater to an event that all anglers can feel confident to compete, sustaining a larger field size and providing an equal playing field. An event that will eliminate and bring forth the best anglers of all regions. With that being said, the Classic would then be made up of the top 20 from this event together with the Teams of the Year from each Tour ensuring representation from each division along with the defending Classic Champions. With a smaller field size, the Classic will allow the CSFL to showcase anglers and to utilize virtually any water-bordering community with minimal limitations.

We truly believe that the changes that we will be implementing to the 2013 schedule are in the best of interest for our organization and its anglers. This will allow us to strengthen field sizes, sustain higher pay backs and continue to deliver a platform for anglers to be proud of.

This CSFL is pleased to announce that it will introduce an all new two day BASSMANIA Regional Cup, an event that will cater to a larger qualified field size and will take place on Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st, Labour Day weekend, on the Bay of Quite (Bay only) out of Trenton where only the top 20 boats along with each Division’s Team of the Year will advance to the CSFL National Classic which will take place on Lake Simcoe September 13, 14 & 15, 2013.

The Regional Cup is not intended to force another event, but merely to allow another avenue to eliminate and bring forward the year’s top anglers. We truly believe that the BM Regional Cup can maintain a body of water that is well received by all anglers and the National Classic that will continue to challenge the most avid anglers, allowing us to create true heros of this sport.
For further information, please do not hesitate to contact the CSFL.

    Best regards,

    Andrew Pallotta

WOW! Fantastic! I love this. This will really bring the cream to the top. I'm gonna love watching the big boys go at it on Simcoe. Not to mention it's new challenge for me. I can't wait! The coverage for this is going to be massive, my sponsors are going to freak when I make the Nationals.

:?If I have this right then:
top 25% minimum 10 from each division (7 divisions) fish the Regional (100 plus teams) From that event the top 20 teams plus the 7 teams of the year compete at the Nationals (27 team max. ?)
Both events no additional entry fee cost to the anglers. WOW! best of the best.
Needs to be televised Hello WFN or TSN

Way to go Andy and Vita

Almost Pat. The Regional Cup has a $200 entry fee. Payouts are at 80% over 20 payspots.

I'm all for seeing the cream rise to the top as I agree that there are far too many boats and this and past year's Classics.

The problem I see is that there a new limitations or commitments...

These guys would be fishing all long weekend in September and then a 3 day event the two weekends later for all the marbles. This is all great but Quinte and Simcoe aren't really all that close in proximity and when accouting for pre-fishing time as well, that's a ton of time....By asking guys to take basically 2 weeks off is tough when they've been taking days off all summer just to fish qualifiers.

I love the All-Star Week Tournaments that the Elites run where you have the best fish a few events...but that works for guys that do it for a living. There aren't many guys in Ontario that can do it for a living and this is where the problem may lie.

I like some of the changes being made but having these such events on Quinte and Simcoe is like having them on Falcon and Amistad...There are other great lakes around that see less tournament pressure and allow for a more level playing field by favouring fewer anglers with them as their home waters....

i feel the csfl is making steps in the right direction but personally i don't like this format. i would have rather seen less guys from each division go to the classic. I think this may hurt some of the turn outs in certain divisions. Its one thing to go a lake 3-4 hours away and fish a classic but its another to do it on 2 lakes 4 hrs away 2 weeks apart. my 2 cents

3 days to decide a one day tournament series never made a lot of sense to me.

5 days on 2 lakes makes even less.

It does't work for Marina and I. It may for other teams.
    Sorry.
