Lowrance Insight Genesis Map
Lowrance released its latest mapping program Insight Genesis which allows you the user to create your own maps from sonar logs. All you have to do is record your sonar data while you are on the water. Then remove your SD card when you get home and upload the logs with Lowrance’s handy desktop utility. Within a few minutes you’ll receive an email with a link to your custom map.
Here is a sample of a short sonar log from a couple of years ago that I uploaded yesterday.

Here is the Navionics chart for the same area to show the difference.

Lowrance allows you to view the maps online for free. A onetime download is $19.95 to use with a HDS Gen2 Touch unit. The Standard 1 year subscription is $99.95 and that allows maps to be used on 2 HDS Gen2 Touch units and a 4 hour scanning time. This also allows you to merge maps from different trips for even greater detail. The Premium subscription is $299.95/year and offers use on 4 HDS Gen2 Touch and bottom hardness, vegetation, weather tools, and other trending features.

Does the information stay confidential? If I scan an area then send it in is the information shared with anyone?

It is an link that only you have access to so yes it is confidential. They do say that they may collect portions of the data for enhancements to Lowrance mapping. I wouldn't worry about that though.

That is pretty slick! Thanks

It sure is. The key I found to it was that you'll need to zig zag over structure a couple of times and then you'll have the most detailed maps.
I uploaded another recording from Kempenfeldt Bay and I had drove over the structure several times while recording. When the map was produced the detail of contour lines was amazing. That was on the free program so it had 5 foot contour lines. With some of the paid subscriptions you can get 1 foot detail!

Hi Lawren,
Do you need to be using your structure scan to create the details or can you criss cross areas at speed as long as your sonar is reading the bottom depth?
Thanks in advance,

I don't think it needs the side imaging data, however it will give you much more accurate maps with the side imaging. If you only use your traditional sonar I think you'd have to make very close passes as you zig zag or you'll end up with gaps in the data.
