2014 CSFL NATIONAL CLASSIC
Cameron Lake, Fenelon Falls
September 13 & 14, 2014
Stouffville, Ontario - Friday, May 16, 2014 the Competitive Sport Fishing League announced today this year's CSFL NATIONAL CLASSIC is to be held on Cameron Lake out Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
This year's CSFL National Classic XVIII will take place on Cameron Lake starting Saturday September 13th out of Fenelon Falls for two days where up to 50 of the Nation's best anglers will compete for a purse that may exceed well over $50,000. Each day 25 teams will blast off from the shores of Fenelon Falls returning for a drive by weigh in at the Fenelon Fairgrounds. The CSFL and the Canadian Outdoor Sport Shows, producers of the Spring Fishing & Boat Show, have partnered to establish a full blown outdoor trade show that will start on Friday September 12th and continue to the 14th where the CSFL National Classic drive by weigh-in will take the lead role as the main feature together with the CSFL Mega Tank, daily country and rock bands, and so much more.
2013 was a pinnacle year and a turning point for the CSFL by strategically introducing the Regional Cup, the first semi-final qualifier to bring forth the best of the best. The CSFL continues to strive to better itself by taking into consideration past seasons, in particular, it has watched fields grow when the Classic home divisions are favored and lessen when cost of travel becomes a factor for other divisions. This is a challenge not just for the anglers but also for the CSFL. In 2013 the semi-final qualifier, the RC1, was put in place to offset this challenge as it did prove to neutralize the amount of teams going to the Classic, however it also redirected the cost to the favored division as they would have to travel out of their region in order to qualify for their home Classic thereby becoming more challenging for anglers but also adding to the traveling cost in order to be competitive. This was never the intent, so back to the drawing board. The CSFL is determined to keep it fair for all anglers, cost efficient with an equal traveling distance for all divisions, and a community that would support the National Classic.
CSFL Qualifiers span from Georgian Bay to Trenton and from Muskoka to the Toronto Harbour, nearly 300 kilometers from point to point. The Fenelon Falls community is the center of the CSFL's outreach with a 150 kilometer radius to the furthest destination in each direction, with ample space for 25 boats and a fantastic community. The Fenelon Fairgrounds in Fenelon Falls offers endless opportunities including a Fall Trade Show with enough room for our annual Classic drive by, allowing the CSFL to showcase its anglers, continuing to deliver a platform for anglers to be proud of and bringing the recognition to its anglers opening new doors and a possibility to further endorsement opportunities.
The CSFL would like to thank Fenelon Falls Marina for taking a leadership role in assisting us in making this possibly the best National Classic in CSFL history.
2014 Classic contenders will also be invited to participate in the 2015 All-Star Invitational in search of the ultimate angler.
